Air Fryer Focaccia with Sea Salt and Herbes de Provence

Calories: ~340 kcal per serving

Ingredients

  • 250g Strong white bread flour
  • 1 tsp Dried active yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Maldon salt (plus extra for topping)
  • 180ml Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil (plus extra for greasing and drizzling)
  • 1 clove Minced garlic (optional)
  • 1-2 tsp Herbes de Provence

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 180ml warm water, 1/2 tsp granulated sugar, and 1 tsp dried active yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until a foamy layer appears on top.
  2. Add 250g strong white bread flour, 1 tsp Maldon salt, and 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly oil a clean bowl with olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turn to coat, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Gently punch down the dough and shape it into a rectangle or circle that fits your air fryer basket. Lightly oil your air fryer basket or line it with parchment paper. Place the dough in the basket.
  6. Cover the dough in the air fryer basket and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Drizzle the risen dough with more extra virgin olive oil. Using your fingertips, create dimples all over the surface. Sprinkle generously with extra Maldon salt, 1-2 tsp herbes de provence, and 1 clove minced garlic (if using).
  8. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown and cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model.
  9. Carefully remove the focaccia from the air fryer and let it cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
