Calories: ~340 kcal per serving
Ingredients
- 250g Strong white bread flour
- 1 tsp Dried active yeast
- 1/2 tsp Granulated sugar
- 1 tsp Maldon salt (plus extra for topping)
- 180ml Warm water
- 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil (plus extra for greasing and drizzling)
- 1 clove Minced garlic (optional)
- 1-2 tsp Herbes de Provence
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine 180ml warm water, 1/2 tsp granulated sugar, and 1 tsp dried active yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until a foamy layer appears on top.
- Add 250g strong white bread flour, 1 tsp Maldon salt, and 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Lightly oil a clean bowl with olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turn to coat, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Gently punch down the dough and shape it into a rectangle or circle that fits your air fryer basket. Lightly oil your air fryer basket or line it with parchment paper. Place the dough in the basket.
- Cover the dough in the air fryer basket and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Drizzle the risen dough with more extra virgin olive oil. Using your fingertips, create dimples all over the surface. Sprinkle generously with extra Maldon salt, 1-2 tsp herbes de provence, and 1 clove minced garlic (if using).
- Air fry for 15-20 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown and cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model.
- Carefully remove the focaccia from the air fryer and let it cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
